Afghan Women Movement from first Women Council to the Kabul Conference Statement- 17-18 July 2010

ACT ON 8 is on a drive to raise $100,000 to empower Afghani women and increase democracy. $31,200 has already been donated.

$168 provides the following training and benefits to 1 Afghan woman.
ACT ON 8 will double the value of your contribution: each dollar that you donate will be matched by the same amount from ACT ON 8. Your $84 donations will allow 1 Afghan woman to:
• Participate in WCI's training program
• Follow the programs in a secured environment
• Get assistance and support to run for office, to be added to
electoral lists, and to obtain a competitive placement on the
list
• Benefit from follow up support and feedback after key elections
and events
• Acquire the skills and tools to train women in their
communities
• To work actively towards a more peaceful and democratic country
through various legal and political measures

    I am a citizen of the United States committed to helping the women and girls of Afghanistan -- I am returning May 14-26 and would like to meet and talk with women while I am there. I will be in Kabul and Bamiyan.
